This is a great read on agency and sense-making from an enactive perspective (to say the least). Have found it to be very useful for thinking about "absorbed/immediate" sense-making in everyday life.pic.twitter.com/ZH8KyzLIJM

There is an interesting lineage to it, that begins with the introduction of autopoiesis and Varela's following work. This address given in 1981 (found by way of @evantthompson) is of particular importance to the book above. As is Varela and Weber's Life After Kant.pic.twitter.com/2SaKWAAtwv
Following the above, Di Paolo's paper "Autopoiesis, Adaptivity, Teleology, Agency," is key to understanding the arrival of Sensorimotor Life and a landmark in autopoietic thinking. Thompson integrates this and expands upon it in his important book "Mind in Life."
I find this particular narrative to be a "sweet spot," adding to autopoiesis while contributing to neurophenomenology. A relief to find an area where Varela's work is still being expanded upon.
Have you read @evantthompson’s latest book Waking Dreaming Being? He keeps the autopoiesis torch burning in quite a wonderful way (IIRC without ever actually saying the word :-)
I think I do say the word in the very last chapter.
