    tbf, didn't finance get there first? Either way, it's the same disease: if you give someone ten million dollars, they will tell you your ideas are great

    one of the worst things the tech industry ever did was convince men who were successful at tech that that means they can then be successful at anything, no matter how little knowledge they actually have about the matter

    This has been my abiding stance on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Maybe Fleabag worked better for me because of the accents, but that's not a great reason…

    I got an episode into it and couldn’t abide. I can see why there’s humor in it, and even why some people enjoy It, but... it left me cold.

    This is why they hate us (lawyers). He has to *prove* the hostile effect of the n-word? One cannot take judicial notice of that?

    Here's a racial discrimination case that Barrett did decide, where she wrote that being called the n-word at work by your supervisor does not constitute a hostile or abusive work environment.

    Please, please, please do not mark the sad passing of Eddie Van Halen by repeating the myths about the brown M&M rider request. It wasn’t dilettantism, it was a way of ensuring the rider had been read and the band’s safety critical tech requests were fulfilled.

    today I finally pieced together in my head that the Prohibition amendment was ratified the year after the 1918 pandemic; what the fuck, how could an entire country go through a pandemic and come out of it thinking, "You know, let's make it illegal to drink now"

    For real. Listening to often makes me feel like a bit of an Old, but the music bumps show me that someone there is exactly, as in probably-in-the-same-homeroom kind of Old. That helps.

    This is super nerdy but a Very Good Thing I discovered recently is the Spotify playlist of songs heard on . Turns out NPR bumper music is extremely my jam, especially when working from home. It's the little things, right?
