    Went on the BBC to say: -If we want a future with free speech, it won't be one where the richest man in the world can buy a platform & change the rules to his liking -Social media should be more decentralized & interoperable -Pass & antitrust bills for more choice

    ...in the end, we are wasting a lot of time debating endlessly over what the rules should be, when the fact is that we will never have free expression, safety, and justice online in a world where a tiny handful of companies essentially control what can be seen and heard online.

    We can & should have debates about what the content moderation rules on a platform as large & influential as Twitter should be. Folks who know me know that my personal view is that they should be permissive of wide range of speech, even controversial and terrible speech. But...

    I also explained why content moderation is actually necessary to ensure free speech for all, and what we need is more choice. Some online communities should have really strict rules. Others can be "anything goes." But people should have control over their online experience.

    We spent billions on subway surveillance that could’ve gone to schools, housing, or transit. And when someone actually attacked, it failed. Instead, his belongings, witnesses, and a tip line worked. Mayor Adams, please don’t buy even more terrible tech.
