(Every once in awhile, a magazine writer gets to flex their file-it-now muscles! Thanks to @alexheard and @outsidemagazine for working late to get this live.)

A Chinook passed overhead Alaskaward (or at least toward YXY) on Tuesday afternoon. I figure Alaska must have plenty already on hand, but it's fun to imagine it was the one.

Great piece Eva! Just to clarify, Chris left on his journey the summer of 1990 but occupied the bus spring/summer of 1992.

Eva, in your mind, where would be the most appropriate location for the bus?

I'm really not sure. Maybe a museum (one of the ones that has an outdoor area for large exhibits)? I'll be curious if we find out what happens to it!

Well written! Have been out to the Stampede Mine a number of times over the years (via bush pilot to the airstrip) as a buddy of my uncle owned one of the last remaining cabins out there. Learned of the story back then and how most Alaskans felt about all of it.
