The antiquated system of FPTP has to go, it's no longer fit for purpose (if it ever was). But no party in power is going to advocate or promote PR as it'd be against their interests to do so.

Quite. This is the eternal problem. Clegg had the chance and blew it spectacularly. Won't happen again in my lifetime I suspect.

The 2011 referendum was for Alternative Vote, not proportional representation. We've never had a say on PR.

Yet, .. (deep breath) under our current system there is now a democratic mandate for Brexit in a way there never was before. We still don't know what sort of Brexit we will get but we can now be sure. We must now put it behind us and hold the people and politicians to account.

What was the turnout compared to last time? So much for long queues at poll stations, the youth vote and tactical voting.

Down 1.5% apparently. I was surprised at first but think it must be because both main parties were unappealing to a lot of voters, and other parties were sidelined by the media.pic.twitter.com/6ro98nffIl
