There‘s a temptation to see everything elites do as calculated & purposeful, & to interpret all major events as intended outcomes I’m not exempt, I do this myself. But mostly these guys are just f*cking ret@rded, OK? They’re powerful sure, but more than that, they‘re stupidpic.twitter.com/GuHF3QvuB0

They have all kinds of plans & conspiracies, on a spectrum from truly evil to the hamfisted & hilarious, but most of what actually happens isn‘t directly intended or planned by them, because a) they‘re stupid, and b) they have a planning horizon of like 8 months

If you‘re trying to make sense of What Is Happening, and your heavily favoured default theory is not some variation upon ‚they f*cked up’, you should probably rethink that.

If they thought on such short timelines, they wouldn't be the elite, by definition. They think on a very long term, just look at the Club of Rome.

no. having power makes them elite, not long-term planning.

A planning horizon of 8th months? Thanks for showing how little you know. I almost took you seriously for a moment.

This ! A lot of it runs on a very short term feedback loop. They do something, Ingroup applauds, and they do more of the same.

yeah, the only credible conspiracy theories are the ones that assume very short time horizons.

It's not so much that one person sat down and said "I am going to do this on purpose" moreso that the system is setup in a way that only a certain outcome was possible. In that sense, 'they' did do it on purpose.

If they have a planning horizon of 8 months, why are their think tanks being paid to come up with elaborate visions of what the future should look like in 100+ years? "they fucked up" is a much more palatable idea than "we're fucked"

the academic wankery that goes on in think tanks and the like bears only a distant relationship to the actual plans and intentions of people in power. „they fucked up“ and „we’re fucked“ aren’t mutually exclusive
