I played chess voraciously as a teenager, and I've always been struck at how computerised games seem to be boring and 'blank' in some way, while games with humans always have a flavour and personality to them.

As adult I no longer find it very interesting, & intensive training (with chess problems, etc) always results in weird nonsense chess dreams and in distracted daydreaming about difficult positions. It's like my brain inefficiently routes game problems through my visual cortex.
