You are not correct. The flu hardly kills anyone. The deaths attributed to it are largely statistical guesses and mostly due to other factors. You don't know anyone who it's ever killed or even heard of someone who has died of the flu. COVID is the real deal.

You are just emoting now. I don't know anyone who has died of covid either. I have no clue what you mean by "COVID is the real deal." Yes, it is real. Are you going to argue that influenza is not? Is that seriously the hill you intend to die on?

I know people who have died of COVID or have gotten very sick from it. I know celebrities that have died of COVID. I've never heard of anyone who has died from the flu in 44 years on this planet. The flu isn't particularly dangerous. COVID is.

Good for you. The CDC disagrees with your assessment of the flu, but perhaps they'll reconsider in light of your anecdotal observations and attention to celebrity news

I trust nobody, but I have no reason to believe that the CDC would lie about the severity of the flu, just as I have no reason to disbelieve the official UK data showing that the Delta variant has a CFR of 0.1% in unvaccinated people

Take a look at how the CDC calculates flu deaths. You'll be surprised. The Delta variant CFR is low in the UK because most older people have been vaccinated. But 0.1% is still pretty bad for younger people, relative to most diseases. Not to mention the prospect of long COVID.

The UK data actually shows how effective vaccinations have been.
