All the people screaming at me than race is a really real, a biological reality, all they need to do is NAME THE RACES THAT ARE REAL and SHOW THEIR BIOLOGICAL FOUNDATION. It’s odd they won’t take the obvious means to prove their assertion.

race is like heredity more generally -- there's a really-real ancestral/genetic component that is very clinal and smoothly varying, and then there are basically arbitrary lines we draw on that chart and call them "races"

so there are real biological differences between the "races" we recognize, since they do come from different places on the chart but there's no real fundamental justification for exactly where we draw the lines

But the claim “races are real” just is the claim that there are real, natural groups which we identify and draw lines around. But there aren’t.

yeah, it'd be more accurate to say "races lossily represent a real thing" (meanwhile, "races aren't real" is usually contextually read as meaning something like "there are no biological differences between different ancestral groups", which is just earth-is-flat level false)

“Lossily”? “Races” misrepresent a real thing. It is an error-concept. The thing can be understood otherwise than in terms of “race” and should be, because the understanding in terms of “race” is necessarily and always incorrect.

Colours aren't real because the electromagnetic spectrum is continuous.
