In April 2020, Lothar Wieler, head of RKI (German CDC) says first they thought Corona transmitted via droplets. But now, they realise that aerosols are the important vector, & that’s why they recommend masks. Because masks work against aerosols. THIS IS HOW DUMB THEY AREhttps://twitter.com/tomdabassman/status/1406277660595179524 …

It is backwards, he has it precisely backwards: Masks might matter against droplets, against aerosols they are completely fucking worthless. There is just no overemphasising, how boundlessly stupid all of these assholes are, and somehow they‘ve gotten the keys to all our lives.

You can catch the coof from aerosols *and* droplets. Cloth masks are somewhat useful against the latter but useless against the former. Which means that cloth masks have some utility if you're going through the grocery for 15 minutes but useless in constant presence of the sick

of course, but the dominant transmission vector right now anyway (with the sick staying at home) appears to be aerosols. which would explain why mask mandates appear to do essentially nothing.
