It is backwards, he has it precisely backwards: Masks might matter against droplets, against aerosols they are completely fucking worthless. There is just no overemphasising, how boundlessly stupid all of these assholes are, and somehow they‘ve gotten the keys to all our lives.
You can catch the coof from aerosols *and* droplets. Cloth masks are somewhat useful against the latter but useless against the former. Which means that cloth masks have some utility if you're going through the grocery for 15 minutes but useless in constant presence of the sick
Which is precisely why doctors in hospital wards, with a high concentration of aerosols (since the sick are constantly coofing and outputting droplets that will dry out and fill the air with aerosolized naked virus particles) needed actual respirators.
