After 8 idle house-arrested months, in which I read as much or more about Corona as I have about many things in my actual field, I am convinced that the dominant feature of this whole thing - & its most terrifying aspect- is the bottomless, gaping, endless, slack-jawed stupidity.
There is everywhere ill-will too. There are asshole medical bureaucrats who want power for themselves, there are scientists who inflict viruses upon the whole world through carelessness & lie about it, there are nefarious alliances and agendas I haven‘t begun to contemplate.
All of that‘s really bad, but the worst, the absolute worst, is how endlessly, unimaginably, unprecedentedly stupid all these people are. They won‘t ever realise they‘ve fucked up & stop. They won‘t ever see that their interests are better served doing something, anything else.
They think it is stopping now. They think vaxx are the key. They think if they can get antibodies into every last human bloodstream, Corona will stop. Corona won‘t stop. And I am terrify about what these unbelievable dumbasses do next, when they realise it.
