How did the leftists take power? In the presence of mass media power comes from controlling public opinion. You do that by imposing terminology which you can do every time you open your mouth or type on the keyboard.

They took power by infiltrating elite managerial institutions and from these positions establishing a loose, decentralised cultural consensus affirming their basic worldview and political program. Media / cultural institutions (like Unis) are only one part of their system ...

They used those institutions to spread their terms, talking points and narratives to control public opinion.

Public opinion isn‘t of much importance to them, because they hold actual power in corporate, political & communications institutions. So, they try to influence public opinion, sure, but ultimately they don‘t care very much about that & they do unpopular things all the time.

Public opinion is 100% the source of leftist power and the only thing that matters to them. They are not good at applying force or making money. They rewire people's brains and control how they think and get people to accept what is not in their interest.

I understand this is your premise, but for the most part it’s wrong, even naive. Public opinion is almost never decisive. This is not to say that western regimes don‘t deploy propaganda or psychological strategies, but public opinion is secondary to leftist power & shaped by it.
