Public opinion isn‘t of much importance to them, because they hold actual power in corporate, political & communications institutions. So, they try to influence public opinion, sure, but ultimately they don‘t care very much about that & they do unpopular things all the time.
Of course, because they command power and resources, their globalist ideology will inevitably appeal to a certain portion of the public, particularly women & middle-class strivers interested in having correct opinions.
Occasionally leftists will expend political capital they've accumulated through previous propaganda efforts for a greater long-term goal of gaining power. Mass non-white immigration hurt them a bit in the short-term but not enough to remove them from power.
