In this video, SAGE-member Susan Michie, a professor of "Health Psychology" (think about that for a moment) at University College London, calls for "long-term" social distancing that will continue "forever, to some extent".https://twitter.com/5_News/status/1402682447586811913 …

Michie knows zero about infectious diseases, but she an expert in "behaviour change in relation to health". Our governments are being advised by radical pseudo-scientific cliques, which is why they are coming to embrace some of the most extreme policies we have since WWII.pic.twitter.com/WZkrEHrxEi

Tfw you realize that the more educated (intelligent?) a person is, the more likely they are to think SD restrictions will/should stay forever. The people I interact with IRL who have no contact with academia don't doubt for a second that after a pandemic things go back to normal.

People like SM aren't historians but they should have enough intelligence to pause and think that past societies lived under far worse epidemiological threats but still most developed various forms of mass gatherings, some of which were quite important to the fabric of society.

And even more than that, in the millennia-long human experience with communicable disease, not one society before this moment has ever developed social distancing measures or masks or the rest of it. This was all literally dreamed up by these deranged lunatics five minutes ago.

All kinds of hygiene measures are common to human civilisation: drainage, garbage disposal, removal of corpses, integrity of water sources, etc. Aside from sporadic travel restrictions / quarantines in plague events, none of this has ever been a part of society before.

Another British PH person was sayin the other day that in the future football fans will, in negotiation with PH, will have to come up with "safer" ways of celebrating a goal (i.e. not chanting or shouting).
