Fantastic to see this in lockdowns-forever SZ: Since November, hospitals received compensation if their ICUs were more than 75 percent full. The auditors have noted that this was a "dangerous false incentive"pic.twitter.com/4AONoVtbJ6

What's more, the federal auditors' report cites a January letter from the RKI to the health ministry, wherein they suspect hospitals are indeed under-reporting capacity. So in January: RKI officials demand moar lockdown because ICUs are full ...
...while internally, they are writing to health ministry, saying they think reported ICU capacity numbers are bogus. The DIVI register of ICU capacity is "no longer suitable for assessing the situation", RKI believed, precisely as they were using DIVI to assess the situation.pic.twitter.com/sUTCgcqS7F
Finally, as I noted earlier, March to September 2020, hospitals were given 50k Euro for every new ICU bed they set up. In total, 700 million Euro were spent on this system - enough for 13.700 new ICU beds. The federal auditors can't find these beds anyhwere.pic.twitter.com/foNkMpHJ9a
None of this is new, we've known it for a while. But it's now being reported sympathetically in mainstream papers (and in state media) pretty much for the first time.
