Had a beer at pub for 1st time since Nov 2020 closures. Half the menu was health ministry Corona regulations. Weird plexiglass dividers everywhere, even worse than in the fall. Normally overflowing with people. Tonight (major gastro reopening) maybe 1/4 full.

The plexiglass dividers are the ones that really get to me. I think masking is probably based on fake science but at least there is some semblance that they might do something. I have yet to see anyone defend the dividers. They are humiliating and conspicuously useless

Yes the research has not been kind to plexiglass dividers or the bubble tent dining models

I would be interested in reading more on this if anyone has links. I’m only getting pro-plexy propaganda in my searches

I don't have it offhand but there has been research raising questions about: 1. general efficacy (the virus is airborne and the glass does not stop air moving tables) 2. concentration of the virus particles within given area increases infection odds for people in that area

Replying to @SandpiperFax @Smeal_ and
double edge sword, the more it limits air exchange the higher the risk of the people inside it transferring to each other or the next table or the person who cleans the surfaces in between tables getting it the less it limits air exchange the less point there is anyway

Replying to @SandpiperFax @Smeal_ and
personally I think the only way to proceed is to enhance air exchange throughput to the max possible and where exchange is already maxed consider more advanced filtration if possible or even opening the door and putting a fan there to push air out

the only thing really to do with aerosols is disperse them.
