excellent engineering decision for smoke-alarm makers to set up the ‘my battery is low’ chirps such that they’re really far apart and seemingly intermittent in frequency. which one is chirping? who knows, make the homeowner work for it!

Moved into a new apartment a while ago and I had to track down the prior residents of the place to find out where the useless intermittent beeping alarm was at.
Smoke alarms are such an incredible annoyance, you'd think they were designed expressly to encourage people to disable them and put themselves at risk of dying in a fire.
