In Spring 2020, a Corona field hospital was built on exhibition grounds just outside Berlin, with facilities for 500 Covid patients, should city hospitals fill up. Nobody has ever been treated there. It will finally be dismantled in September.https://www.rbb24.de/politik/thema/corona/beitraege/2021/06/berlin-corona-krankenhaus-messegelaende-abbau.html …

Canadian news uses the same arguement about ICU reaching max capacity, of all the lies I dont understand why anyone believes this They've had a year to prepare and increase capacity, if there is a shortage it speaks to imcompentence of the healthcare industry

Exactly, if this is the reason to lock down, states would mobilise to provide emergency capacity. In Germany that was only ever done (halfheartedly) in the 1st wave, then it was reversed, but they kept using the argument.

Meanwhile it has been obvoius for months that this Berlin hospital would never be used, but they obviously couldn't dismantle it in the middle of lockdown (bad optics), so the announcement comes only now, quietly.
