So I am watching Top Gun for the first time in my life. So far it is a movie in which nothing really happens and Tom Cruise is unbearable.

It's an important piece of 80s nostalgia for me. But lacking the context of time & place I can see how it's nothing remarkable.
I was expecting more overt American propaganda but so far I don‘t even think I‘ve seen a flag. I guess international Hollywood already fine-tuning their game

It's been over 20 years since I've seen it so I don't remember, but it's possible they've recently cut out all the US flags. At the time Hollywood was unapologetic and ostentatious with such propaganda.
