Yeah. Only real “solutions” seem to be: 1) Live on an island and completely quarantine from the outside world. 2) Mass test every man, woman, and child — and everyone who tests positive gets sent to jail; repeat every 2-3 weeks.

Pretty much. I know a lot of people say this validates the China model, but that model of competent totalitarianism is unique.
Very uncertain what happened in China. R-nought was already in decline when they imposed the lockdown, there had been infections since mid- late-November but outbreak was bizarrely still confined to Hubei by late January, relatively low observed attack rate outside hospitals...
