not convince. SIDS babies stop breathing for unexplained reasons. ie they are suffocated.

ok. I‘m not saying *all* of them, but you have to realise, infanticide (generally via exposure: not really possible in modern world) was a very common means of birth control in the premodern era, and I don‘t think it just disappeared.
