Among the bitterest lessons of my life, has been learning that being right, and having clears proofs of it, doesn't matter at all. It doesn't persuade your intellectual adversaries, it counts for nothing. Only power matters.

I made a discovery that was counter to fake research coming out of my group that many people had built their careers around. I was silenced but published my research on my own. My paper was then retracted when my previous institution strong armed the journal. It's all power.
