Sigmund Freud said the same thing over 100 years ago. People don’t want to hear voice of reason; they respond to everything with emotions. That is why Freud’s nephew Edward Bernays were so successful manipulating the public - he always played on their emotions.
Among the bitterest lessons of my life, has been learning that being right, and having clears proofs of it, doesn't matter at all. It doesn't persuade your intellectual adversaries, it counts for nothing. Only power matters.

The ‘rule of law’ has done nothing to make truth more accepted or efficacious. Those liberals (by which I mean most centrists and conservatives) who cling to that ideal actually make the problem worse.
