He did not estimate this NOW! He actually laid out a schedule for the pandemic in mid 2020 where he explained in detail how pandemics (humans have a rich history in pandemics) play out. Back then he said that he expects this to last to roughly 2022. Don't be IDIOTS

Pandemics are fully researched. They typically last for years and death counts are not a matter of a year. This is a normal pandemic driven by a novel variant of the coronavirus. It is not rocket-science. It's just that you guys are all confused from all the media coverage.
