That’s insane that you are still on lockdown there given the season.

a sliver of hope is they relax a bit after the election in september. part of this is the CDU posturing for their median-age-68 voting base.

But seasonality will hit and the Greens, who will govern in some form, have a voter base that is much more zerocovid than even the Union's, seeing how state employees get paid in any case.

I don't know how seriously to take No-Covidians, to be honest. I'm not sure they'll be a force in the fall. The worst case scenario, is Baerbock hangs a truly hard lockdown that ends up causing shortages or widespread unrest, the sort of problem that solves itself.

I understand why you are sanguine about this but I think shortages are a plus for the left; they get to offer ubi or whatever to solve the problem, they will blame rightists for any challenges.

it will widen the base of opposition; obviously everything will be cast as our fault or a reason for yet mire leftist interventions, until we reach a certain minimum point. i remain convinced that lockdowns are primarily a policy of prosperity ...

... and will become less viable, the less prosperous we become.

I'm convinced that the Green base views declining prosperity in those that will be most affected favorably. 'Serves them right.' K-shaped economic development will be seen as the environment fighting back - against meat eaters, car drivers, wrong-voters etc.

Yesterday, the ZDF had Baerbock struggling over the potential disappearance of cheap flights hurting the poor the most - and she kept struggling until the head of the ZDF himself built her a bridge by moving the goal posts to a limitation on the number of flights allowed.

lol, saw that.

Yeah, some of the hard-core greens are destructive, but they aren't electorally viable by themselves. What's more, hard NoCovid lockdowns won't eliminate Corona, so there'll be nothing for them to take credit for.

I could see ending up for a time in a spiral of tightening restrictions, but ultimately containing Corona is a losing policy. it will start to chew up the greens just as it's chewed up the CDU.
