      When politicians hire campaign consultants, they are not managed by them. That hardline European nationalist parties have their most popular positions co-opted by centre-right parties & lose ground to them, is not a phenomenon we need Republican campaign consultants to explain

      Not necessarily. Different apparatuses of power representing faction A have historically levied war against faction B, when both A and B (in the aggregate) go against the People's interests.

      after a fashion, but the point isn't open to dispute. elite american institutions brook no support of trump. even i have enough experience in those circles to know how true that is.

          A few elite political and media institutions were forced, by Trump’s enormous popularity, to enter compromise positions. The GOP didn’t support Trump until they were forced to; Fox News dropped their overt support as soon as they were able.
