It really is unbelievable. I guess it depends on how much damage the union takes between now and september. Honestly I half believe the conspiracy theories that Merkel is intentionally destroying the party to make way for the greens.
She‘s certainly acting like that’s her plan. Extensive damage to the CDU is likely because Laschet is going to fumble everything he touches and Merkel can’t keep her claws off the levers of power in the party, which is going to make Laschet look even weaker.
On the other hand there‘s the crazy-factor of the greens. I bet they can‘t hide that spiritually they‘re tyrannical daycare workers which is going to turn many people off.
