In my occasional communication with old American colleagues, I am more and more wished a speedy vaccination, in place of the usual generic good tidings. I really hate this and sooner or later I will start telling each and every one of these people to go f*ck themselves.

It’s interesting that America seems to have a much more extreme discourse surrounding these matters than DE (this is my impression anyway), but far fewer actual restrictions.

I've been broadly disappointed with how well our nation adheres to the letter and spirit of the Constitution during all this, but the government that it created (A federalist republic) does an OK job of dividing power such that many of these restrictions are unenforceable.

Germany’s also supposed to have a federal government, does f*ck-all here. something to do with parliamentary systems. Binding executive powers to the legislature in this way makes you prey every last preference cascade.
