I would've been polite if his very first response to my simple opinion wasn't an insult. After that, why bother with decorum. It's clear where he's taking things.

I'm not policing anything. I gave a simple opinion, in no way said anything antagonistic, didn't disagree on the premise, was just thinking pragmatically. His response wasn't to disagree it was to try to belittle me. So the bad guy is the guy who takes exception with the bully?

If this is a good faith interpretation of what you thought you were saying, then I'm sorry that nobody else interpreter it that way.
