there are no allies to be had in these institutions, and anybody trying to reform them will be immediately excluded, even more efficiently than they have already excluded many scholars with original ideas and rigorous research programmes, because they found them threatening.

mockery is a powerful tool, as it plays precisely on the cultural and social prestige they enjoy. it remains for us to hack away at their support from the outside, and to make them ever more discredited institutions among the masses, ever more isolated, irrelevant.
