But it works. Otherwise intelligent people got angry whenever I questioned the "global warming catatstrophe"-narrative, and how it was solely based on faulty computer models. They WANT to believe in impending apocalypse.
It works so well, they’re not even bothering with all the intellectual apparatus anymore. Corona has nowhere near the massive theoretical underpinnings of climate change, no wall-of-text websites debunking every last sceptical argument. It doesn’t matter, it works just as well.
You could have debates about climate change- it does exist, of course, and there is some human influence on it- but how much, and does it warrant this total panic and religious zeal? But with 'rona...dammit, it's just another virus, and not even special.
We have been primed into believing each and every doomsday scenario, and thereby accepting every scheme proposed by our superiors, how downright idiotic and corrupt they might be. This goes deeper on the psychological plane, maybe a collective depression.
