To recap: When Corona ICU occupancy rises, it is disaster & we must lock down. But when it is not rising, we must worry that many, many ICU patients will die anyway, which means also lockdown is important, to spare the ICU capacity, that could not have saved many of them anyway

ICU admissions *are managed* such that the overall occupancy is constant. When Corona occupancy in ICUs rises, the survival rate falls, b/c then only the truly ill are being admitted. When Corona occupancy falls, less serious cases are admitted & survival rate rises.
