States have constructed Corona to be an insoluble problem, against which they propose only the most destructive, protracted solutions, with unflagging determination. Either they must surrender to the virus, destroy our whole way of life, or be driven from power.

"must surrender to the virus". This is the issue with lockdown. when something like a terrorist attack happens, responding with fear and the sacrificing of normal life is generally seen as cowardly and "letting the enemy win"...

i meant a policy surrender of course, but it‘s an unfortunate choice of words. in this case „surrendering“ would mean actually facing the virus and fighting it with our immune systems, quite the opposite

not at all, we entirely agree: mass containment is the true surrender. give Corona the whole field, everything it wants, then search for other things it hasn‘t even asked for, to hand over too. this is „winning“.
