This is why Corona discourse just gets more and more extreme as the months go by. The question is, how extreme can it get, before it collapses under its own absurdity and/or provokes meaningful political opposition.

Here I think they overplayed their hand. Almost every day there is a new variant of concern, nobody can keep track of them all, and they just merge into a single phenomenon, Variants, which are in every case wildly oversold. Maybe next Christmas they declare Covid-21.
