1. Drosten demands „the hammer“ against Corona, referring to the March 2020 Medium essay „The Hammer & the Dance“ by Bay-Area entrepreneur & thinkfluencer Thomas Pueyo. Pueyo‘s mysteriously viral essays inspire policy in multiple countries. Why?https://www.welt.de/wissenschaft/article229463153/Lockdown-Verschaerfung-Drosten-meint-bleibt-nur-noch-der-Holzhammer.html …

Seems like Pueyo found a sweet-spot for a type of writing/messaging of a length and presentation that a) wasn’t too difficult or sophisticated (like a real journal article, but b) couched in language, framing, charts such that Smart People could feel Smart for understanding it

Combine that with its quasi-samizdat status (it was a Medium blog post, not a Lancet or Nature or even NYT article), which could make Smart People feel as though even knowing about it, circulated via their social media friends, put them in a special in-the-know club.

One can understand why Smart People found the whole package irresistible and ‘sticky’, to a degree that it actually blocks their brains from receiving or processing all other POVs or data about this thing. Like a parasite

listening to the Drosten interview again, he says „we only have the tools we had at the beginning of the pandemic“ and so we need to bring out the hammer again. lol maybe get Pueyo to write a few more Medium essays, then you‘ll have more tools.

I don’t read German but this is really confusing. Does he not know about the vaccine? Even absent vaccine, surely there is higher seroprevalence and less susceptibility at a later time when more have had it and/or perished.

The narrative, repeated by multiple functionaries every evening, is that even though we‘ve vaxxed the vulnerable olds (still only 4-5% population-wide), if we don‘t shut down Corona will tear through the <65 crowd with horrifying fury. Why this will be horrifying is not explained

Otherwise thinks like seroprevalence go mostly undiscussed, particularly in state media. Often the press will portray official infections as if they represent the near-totality of the pandemic, which wld mean there is little significant population-wide resistance
