-more transmissible ‘variants’ are always selected -there is growing population-wide resistance (immunity) so somewhat more transmissible ‘variants’ will have a harder time in March 2021 than the somewhat less transmissible strains from March 2020, b/c more of us are immune now

alas, you’re wrong here. any Corona infection confers substantial resistance to all strains also your distinction between ‚OG disease‘ and ‚variants‘ is false. there are countless different lineages, the 1st strains from china have long since been replaced by successor lineages

they are, in a manner of speaking, all ‚variants‘ of one kind or another. some of these ‚variants‘ seem to have different phenotypes (ie, the infections they cause are somewhat different), that’s all.

by definition all the Corona variants cause ‚Covid-19‘. the lineages are distinguished genetically. different strains of the same virus may function a little differently and still be the same virus. just as some people have different heights yet are all humans.
