German lockdown extended to 18 April. Over Easter holiday (1-6 April) moreover supermarkets & other shops, with few exceptions, will all be shut. This is right as one would expect pervasive seasonal suppression to begin. They know what they're doing and this is all so tiresome.

There are hints, yes, like this: "Sie habe argumentiert, die bis dahin geeinten Maßnahmen reichten nicht aus, um die Infektionsdynamik zu brechen. So könne man in der Öffentlichkeit nicht bestehen." But I do not believe they will be able to turn the sentiment on this measure.

It is identical playbook to last spring. They deny that Corona has seasonality, extend lockdowns into the post-season, take credit for decline Only this time it is 'mutants' that have no seasonality & the doubleplus hard Easter shutdown that will 'work'https://twitter.com/jens_140081/status/1374023335277920259?s=20 …

I think everyone wanted a longer-lasting lockdown last spring, but they did not dare go against Muslims celebrating Ramadan, which started early. Muslims and Samy Paty are also the reason why we still have religious gatherings - but not, of course, Easter.

less domestically, I think, but Germany collected all kinds of international praise for 'managing away' the pandemic via incrementalist policies. then of course the fall came.
