When people are afraid they want control which has led to a hyperfocus on all of the wrong things - children, masks, outdoor gatherings.... All things that are easily seen so people convince themselves it's making a difference while avoiding the real issues. Yes, it's a disgrace.

Relatedly, because the campaign against Corona is managed by gvt bureaucrats, there‘s a focus on all those things that government bureaucrats manage. Schools (and the children in them) are one of the primary such things.

Even in cases of the elderly it's hideous. In many care facilities they've gone 1 year without physical contact with family? How can you measure that as a year well lived?
