      Only hypothesis I can muster: they still have more dry tinder (=total cases/100k significantly lower than neighbors). If that’s what it is, guess what. It proves the anti-lockdown people right (once again).

      The good news is that rise hasn’t translated to deaths (yet?). And it’s possible that MI got the ‘dry tinder’ largely out of the way, deaths-wise (they’re not a laggard in deaths/100k) meaning that these new-cases are disproportionately younger/healthier. Guess we’ll see.

      sometimes I think regional outliers like this are largely down to some difference in diagnostic procedures like test criteria.

      Yeah that’s part of why I asked, there could be some technical definitional reason I’m not aware of. But the ‘curve’ doesn’t look like it, it’s not a step function, it looks like a genuine wave
