The good news is that rise hasn’t translated to deaths (yet?). And it’s possible that MI got the ‘dry tinder’ largely out of the way, deaths-wise (they’re not a laggard in deaths/100k) meaning that these new-cases are disproportionately younger/healthier. Guess we’ll see.

sometimes I think regional outliers like this are largely down to some difference in diagnostic procedures like test criteria.

Yeah that’s part of why I asked, there could be some technical definitional reason I’m not aware of. But the ‘curve’ doesn’t look like it, it’s not a step function, it looks like a genuine wave

Also spreader events which act as accelerant are stochastic meaning there may not be an explanation besides they had bad luck with cluster types recently
