If lockdowns were real policies (and not magical fake ones), they would have clear expiration dates, & failure conditions: If infections go up despite lockdown, lockdown would be *lifted*, in the same way you stop dangerous ineffective treatments like chemo, when they don‘t work

It's really the same thing with any policy modern "democracies" enact. See "the benefits of diversity/immigration", which are curiously never quantified with any rigor

Not sure this is true of all policy, definitely is though of a specific subset (immigration/diversity, climate change, etc) that increasingly attracts most political energy. Everyone of course rightly suspects these policies are enacted for reasons other than those stated
