Corona journalism is advocacy, intended to achieve certain outcomes in the public. The press exaggerates the effectiveness of containment & inflates the risk of infection, to inspire compliance. In consequence, mainstream views of Corona are radical, insane and deeply stupid.

On top of this, any media criticism of covid policy is only ever from the standpoint of not going far enough. Not once in this entire pandemic have I seen any suggestion in mainstream media, at least in the UK, that any of these policies might be excessive.
Exactly right. You can only ever not take Corona seriously enough. You can never take it too seriously. Policies can only ever be too weak, never too strong.

And there's the added issue that nebulous broadcasting regulations around pandemic reporting mean that even if broadcasters wanted to show another side of the argument (doubtful), there's basically no way of safely doing so.
