Corona journalism is advocacy, intended to achieve certain outcomes in the public. The press exaggerates the effectiveness of containment & inflates the risk of infection, to inspire compliance. In consequence, mainstream views of Corona are radical, insane and deeply stupid.

How is this different from any other public issue? War, law enforcement, climate change, economic policy are all driven by the same mechanism. It's basic Fabianism-create artificial stress to drive faster social change in the direction you desire.
The volume and persistence of the mythologising at least feels different, as well as the total absence of any counter-narrative. Agreed that war-time reporting is probably the most direct parallel.
