Lockdowns determine Science. Politicians want lockdowns, and so Science will speak of nothing but Long Covid, reinfections, and B117. As soon as politicians no longer want lockdowns, Science will finally shut up about these stupid things. But not a minute before.

This is like the fourth time today I‘ve had this conversation. Imagine instead that elites have broadly similar incentives. In some cases some elites work together, in other cases it is a phenomenon of emergent behaviour.
In general, though, it is underestimated how few people are responsible for shaping the mass-media derived culture of low-information western populations.
