This makes me so happy. My son has felt well enough to go for a walk with me today and also do some projects with our dear friends. My ❤️ is full. These days are blessings when you live with complex health issues and chronic pain.

I appreciate the lens, however, I don’t buy the “we are all theme” bcuz not all patients are created equal. Since you’re on the board I look forward to you leading & ensuring the injustice doesn’t happen again w

As a patient volunteer, I've felt like a token participant way too often. We need to see patients as more as checkboxes and engage in a meaningful way.

Independence Blue Cross IBX and American imaging management AIM have denied a patient in pain medically necessary MRI. They have caused him continued pain and he had to pay for his own MRI which showed cervical herniation abutting the spinal cord, which is dangerous.

So despite my knowledge, skill, wealth, communication skill, literacy, assertiveness... my dad & I were helpless in a system that wasn't PATIENT CENTERED, EFFICIENT, TIMELY, EFFECTIVE. PEOPLE were, but the system--MY system! still failed.

I’m so proud of my partner today his parents were talking about how a girl “was an anorexic” and he corrected them and said “she experienced Anorexia she isn’t the disorder she’s a person” I’m so proud of him on how much he understands something he hasn’t experienced!

This is such a sad commentary on how every moment we spend with patients has been monetized. True, there is no billing code for a kind word, a warm smile, a gentle touch. But without these gestures (which I assure you are richly remunerative) we are not practicing medicine.

To become a certified recovery specialist in Pennsylvania you need to be in recovery for at least 18 months (which I think is ridiculous since we can't agree on what recovery even means), but apparently you can teach a CRS program with no personal SUD history, interesting.
