Richard Stallman is the reason I didn’t start contributing to open source (then called “free software”) in the 90s. I’m not the only one. Fortunately, there are open source projects that are mostly untainted by RMS. Thanks to the move the FSF made to GPLv3, lots of money was put in funding alternate solutions, such as the llvm/clang toolchain, so that you don't even have to touch gcc/binutils anymore.

since lots of people have liked this, I have to rectify it with current information.
Unfortunately, llvm is moving away from BSD... 9.0 onward will be Apache V2, which is a big step backward for us.
No more llvm updates in OpenBSD...
