You say you want to prosecute all war criminals. But that would mean Harvard would lose half its faculty members. How will you make sure we have some teachers if you prosecute all war criminals?

One fun fact about the US is that it's the least likely country in the world to get overthrown by a US-backed coup.

We could start by making sure that the US stays out of all foreign elections. Not only was this done in Chile, but also in Guatemala. I'm sure there are plenty more those are just the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I covered that on my podcast:https://historicly.substack.com/p/ep-16-guatemalas-silent-holocaust-6e3 …

That wasn't socialism. That was a dictatorship masking as socialism, just as communism was in Russia and China. People need to stop conflating that with social programs and policies that benefit society as a whole vs only the wealthy oligarchy.
-
it's beyond reaching to describe Allende's government as a "dictatorship". unless you're talking about Pinochet, which (rightly) no one on the planet thinks was socialist

Democratic socialism is evident in many western nations today and does not allow for non-democratic policies. It is capitalism with reasonable rules to prevent amoral corporations from taking over everything. Medicare is socialism etc.
-
Social Democracies are not the same as Democratic socialism. Social Democracies = capitalism + concessions + safety net. Democratic socialism = worker control over entriprises and sharing their wealth.
-
Beg to differ. Semantics. Your version IMO is not shared as a matte of the meaning of words. Social democracy = Democratic socialism=tamed, regulated capitalism
-
Social democracy is not the same as democratic socialism. You can't just say dumb shit
-
You all do realize Bernie is a democratic socialist right? Norway, Sweden, Finland, places like that? You know, places where the quality of life makes the US look like a third world country (which it is in many places). Jeez...
-
Actually, they’re social democracies. Bernie is really a SocDem, but so few people understand the difference in this country, so he’s going with the term people know better.
