Odd, I'd just say OK as long as I didn't have anything planned.

Even if she cancelled an hour beforehand with no good reason?

If anything, the person they cancelled on is the one who dodged a bullet. Even thinking like that is a bit of a red flag for me.
-
Exactly! I understand being cautious, having left an abusive relationship myself, but that kind of game isn’t a healthy basis for a relationship.

Hate me if you like but I'm with the guy here, she tried to score points and lost. Respect is mutual or nonexistent, simple.
-
No I’m the same, I don’t like these kind of head games. Like sure, look out for red flags, but I hate this kind of messing with people.

Agree with your sentiment entirely but the sheer number of men who don't treat women with respect is the basic problem and I can't see that changing anytime soon. Personally I would consider his response a red flag. It is an interesting ethical situation. Good conversation.

I completely agree that many men are not respectful, but this isn’t the way to handle it. I’m all for going slow and taking the time to work out what kind of person your date is. I’m all for being cautious. But even having left an abusive relationship I wouldn’t play this game.

This happens all the time. Right at the last minute too. Some people don’t even have the decency to send a msg.
-
That’s just rude. I have that with my kids’ parties too; send 15 invites and get maybe 2 or 3 replies. And the implied head games of this girl make it worse.
