My dad was amazing. He found so many games in the 90’s that are still some of my favorites. No One Lives Forever and Oni stand out in my mind a lot. I loved being able to play female characters.

So, yeah it’s nice that some higher up people counting dollars want to see more women in pro leagues. But the “gaming community” harassed Remilia out of the LCS, and no one who’s ever played games around dudes is surprised by that.

I mean... yeah. This comes up all the time. For some reason dudes can’t believe that we play games because we like games.https://kotaku.com/overwatch-pro-quits-after-harassment-over-whether-she-w-1831468560 …

I didn’t think I had to say this but since it ended up in my mentions... “what about the guys who aren’t harassing women? Like if there’s only one toxic dude on mic there’s like 4 dudes who aren’t saying anything.” I don’t give cookies for breathing.

And yes, thank you, I’ve heard all the “pro-level” arguments for why women aren’t going pro in esports (hint: it all boils down to “they’re just not good enough”). And I’m not interested in hearing them again because they’re bullshit.

Because even if it were true (it’s not, but even if it were), no one gets good at something if they’re being harassed all the damn time just for trying it, you jerks.

A couple years ago one of my husband’s buddies was putting together a game night, my husband asked if wives were invited and the buddy was perplexed. Why would they be? This sparked a several day argument, with my husband trying to explain that I’m more of a gamer than he is.

I can guarantee this buddy never harassed a woman on mic while gaming, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t hold misogynist ideas about women and video games. Women like video games because video games are fun. Period. That’s it.

We don’t play games for attention or free loot or to get boyfriends. We play games cause games are fun. That’s it. That’s the whole conspiracy. You can believe us or you can keep being jerks about it. Those are your options.

Also this. It’s fucking sad. The Sims is one of the most successful gaming franchises ever and I’ve met so many dudes who won’t touch it cause it’s a “girl game”.https://twitter.com/fairyxmercy/status/1080579609878503424?s=21 …

Because for some reason, you can’t talk about misogyny in games without gamergaters showing up to tell you you’re part of an organized conspiracy to take away their toys, a follow up thread about gamergate:https://twitter.com/erynnbrook/status/1081263123401662464?s=21 …

Mmm another one of my favorite defenses. "We harass everyone."
I really wish y'all would at least try to develop some new arguments, I'd appreciate the variety.

Then you have no idea what GG is. People from many different political idealogies are part of it. You haven't shown how it's alt-right.
-
I don’t have to show it. There’s literally no degrees of separation. The line is drawn from Milo to... oh look. Milo. You can google the rest. It is known.
-
You haven't said what values they share. Your argument is bunk. Milo isn't a nazi, he's a republican version of Howard Stern (shock jock).
-
What argument? I told a story. Please tell me where the argument is.
-
That GG is alt-right.
-
I didn’t say they were, I said you can draw a direct line from one to the other. As documented. For years. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Gamergate+alt+right …
-
But if you are "drawing a line", you're alluding there is a similarity. Telling someone to "look it up". Isn't evidence. You're still deflecting on what values GG and the alt-right share.
-
Look man, you wanna support gamergate, you do that. Just know that you’re a movement to harass women and own it. I’m not here to walk you through it because you want to play “annoy the feminist” today. You clearly care about it enough to have it in your bio 4 years later, own it.
